Hi everyone, i don't know anything about plasmas but need help please.

Firstly i've been offered a panasonic PH 42pwd from a private person for a £1,000, is this worth it??

Also what components do i need to get it to run a PC with sound and also a sky box, it's for my new shop so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I also need the cheapest place for these parts too please!

    Thanks in advance!

how old is the screen and do you know what inputs it has?........pc will go straight into the vga input...sky could go in via scart, s-video, js scart to component converter or via the pc if fitted with the right tv / capture card

not sure what retail is / was for this screen but if it's brand new and from a reliable source it sounds good to me....what about warranty though? Also as it's for a shop and not home (therefore doesn't need to best or most elegant connection?) you could use a vga switcher...have pc and sky (via scart to vga converter) both plugged into vga switcher and vga switcher into screen.
I expect you'll get more expert advice but its normally quiet at weekends.

Great screen, good price, you'll get it sorted no probs. Do you have speakers for it, or are you planning on separate sound?

Maw, i don't have anything for it at the moment, it's just the bare screen thats become available to me, why does anyone on here sell good secondhand or not used parts for them?

There is a classified section here, good kit on there frequently. You will need a pair of stereo speakers, any budget hi fi ones will work. There are spring clips on each side of the screen, this will make some noise. The PC input has a 3,5mm stereo jack for audio. For a shop, I think I'd look out for a 2nd hand scart board rather than the vga switch, it will be easier for idiots to operate. The PC will need a VGA cable, and an audio cable with a 3.5mm jack on each end, sky connected with scart will carry audio as well. You will run into audio switching trouble with a VGA switch. Budget £60 or so for some decent speakers, 2nd hand or from Richer sounds, and say £75 for a scart board. You might like to upgrade later, but could easily connect a DVD to the 2nd sky scart and it will work. Make sure you enable RGB, and 16:9 in the sky services/picture menu.
