Help with vista startup(or lack of it)

Standard Member
Hope someone may be able to help me please,
My daughters dell inspiron with vista froze up whilst she was using it and managed to shut it down by task manager. When she starts it back up it displays 'resuming windows' and the screensaver comes up but it won't go any further. The wireless internet light comes on so it must be loading something up but she can't get it off the screen saver.
Any remedies would be greatly appreciated please.

Boot the computer and keep tapping the f8 key.
You'll then be presented with a list of options.
Try the "last known good startup" (or similar wording) option.

If that doesn't work, try "safe mode", which loads minimal drivers and might help you to diagnose the problem.

Good luck :smashin:

When you are stuck at the resuming Windows screen press and hold the power button until the laptop powers off. Leave it for a few seconds and then power it back on. It may now boot up ok but if not try the F8 key pressing at the Dell splash screen as recommended above.
