:hiya: hI,

We bought a Panasonic NV GS11 and we would like to record our film through our pc on Dvd. We were told we could do that when we bought it but so far I haven't found out how and it does not say anything on our manual. It would not even connect to transfer still photos on our pc.

Can anybody advise

Hi aurelia and welcome to the forum.

Is the camcorder digital DV cam? If it is then getting the video onto your PC is fairly easy.

The cam will have a DV-out port. You need to connect this to a DV-in port on the PC. DV ports are also known as ieee1394, firewire & iLink - all exactly the same thing  . If your PC does not have this port you can add them on an internal card for about £10 from many online PC shops. the card will include a 4 pin (camcorder) to 6 pin (PC) cable. If your PC already has the ports then you will probably need to buy just the cable as cams are not normally supplied with a firewire cable.

Once connected up it is just a matter of learning to use the software to do the rest.
If you let us know the specs of your PC and the software you have on it for the editing and DVD creation we will be able to offer some more advise on how to get the final DVD.

Mark.
