    Guys,

I'm seriously considering the upgrade of my Sony VW-VPL 10 HT to one of the Sim2 HT300 range of projectors.

Only issue is that of throw.

My Sony is mounted 13 feet from the screen and easily throws an image onto an 8 foot wide screen

I'd like to ceiling mount the Sim2 in roughly the same area (albeit that I could push it back a foot or so) but am concerned that the Sim2 will not fill my screen ( I seem to recall that Sim2 projectors have "long throw" lenses which are great for mounting the projector a long way back - but not so great of you have a finite amount of space)

Question is ; does anyone know how far back (to the face of the lens) a Sim2 HT300 projector would have to be to throw a 94" wide image?

    Many thanks

Unless the lens has changed recently then the shortest throw distance will be about 207" for a 94" wide image (we're talking width here, not diagonal, right?)

The Sony has quite a short throw distance compared to the Sim2 300. For some people like you that's a good thing, for others it can be a problem. There was talk a long time ago about optional lenses for some of the Sim range. Have you spoken to Sim2 UK or a dealer about your plans? Try SIM2 on Tel. 01825.750850 or their web site www.sim2.co.uk

    Good luck

The Sim 2 HT 300 has a throw ratio of 1.8:1 to 2.4:1 so the shortest throw would be 94 x 1.8 = 169.2 inches.
The new Domino 30 has the same throw.

Hi Chris, hope you're keeping well.

Thanks for the update Jeff. I was basing my reply on the HT200's and 250's - Doh!

Doing very well, hope you are too.

    All the best.
