Hi folks - just found these forums and hope someone can help.

I'm looking to build my first HCPC and am fairly set on most of the components I intend to use apart from the soundcard.

I'm looking at the Soundblaster Audigy ZS and the Audiotrak Prodigy cards (or are there other alternatives I have overlooked?). I want a good allrounder - good for music/DVD/HDTV and games.

I have a couple of questions:

    1. If I connect the Soundblaster via SPDIF to my DAC, does this get around the 48Khz resampling issue (and would the sound quality therefore be improved?)
    2. Which connection/s do I use on the soundcard for 5.1 sound for games?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Sorry, can't help you with the sampling question, it's not something I bother about.

I have an Audigy 1 for gaming which feeds a Logitch Z680 sound system so I use the SPD/IF when playing DVDs to use the Z680's DD/DTS decoder. When gaming I use the 3 analog outputs to feed 5.1 into the Z680. In both cases the Z680 is 'playing' at being an a/v receiver.

Not sure if this is what you're getting at or not. :)
