Hi all. I have just bought a Denon AVR X2000 paired with Wharfedale DX1 speakers and am very happy with their performance from a budget system. I have a Samsung UE50F6500 TV , I am connecting the tv to the Denon via HDMI ARC . The sound when using sky is fine and comes out of the speakers but when I use the smart features on TV like YouTube ,spotify or viewing home video from NAS drive I can only hear the sound when using the tv speakers and not the surround speakers . I have messed with settings but can't find a solution . I'm sure it's a simple fix and I'm sure that the experts on here have it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,

This is just a shot in the dark guess, but have you tried using a seperate optical cable to carry the TV's audio out to the AVR?

No it didn't sort it. Can still only get sound through the TV speakers when viewing youtube, iplayer etc. I've Google it but I can't find a solution. Starting to get annoying now.

    Yee Ha I've sussed it.
I had to change the settings on the AVR. I have the HDMI cable connected from the ARC HDMI from TV to the ARC HDMI on the AVR (no need for optical) then changed the HDMI setup on the AVR set to HDMI control on. That sorted it out and now when I watch iplayer, YouTube, Netflix etc the sound comes out of my surround speakers, although only stereo, unless there is a 5.1 film on Netflix.
Thanks for all the help and hopefully this can help others.

    Hi everybody.
My media room size roughly is 16×22(ft). I already have an 3d projector and want to buy a new home theatre system with a separate AVR. After lot of deliberations have zeroed in on denonX500 with wharedale DX1 HCP because of budget constraints but can push the budget a notch up if there is anything better than this combination. So do suggest and your prompt reply will be very helpful. Thank you

This board's membership is primarily made up of members located in the UK so it is hard for them to relate to your budget or make suggestions as to what it will afford you in the USA?

I would seriously suggest you look at larger speakers for a room of that size. I'd also suggest you look a little higher in terms of what is to power them. If you can't afford to do this now then wait unitil you can afford to do it.

Your budget looks fine - though you can always spend more with this hobby.

Where about are you and do you have local specialist Retailers you can visit to demo/purchase a system.

I am in India. My residence is app.250kms away from delhi and at my place there are not too many local retailers for hi fi sounds. Guess i will have to go to delhi for a live experience for these systems. As far as you are concerned what should be the ideal choice.
    Highly appreciate your response.

‘As far as you are concerned what should be the ideal choice’ – shortlist the brands/models you can audition in Delhi, research them online to give you an idea of what to expect then go have a listen.

Keep in mind you are buying speakers to work in your room so ensure you think about positioning and mounting when making the purchase.

    Joe

PS I see this Co. carries Anthony Gallo – we use Gallo on lots of installs, Focal Audio Systems Pvt. Ltd.
