Help with new purchase

Hi,

My parents are after a new tv, ideally 42".

They are looking to get SKY HD, but only normally watch discovery and entertainment type channels. My dad would like sports, but not likely to get it. They also intend to get a blu ray player in the near future.
Their budget is around £500 to £600, and are not sure about LCD or Plasma, I am a Plasma man and have a 4 year old panny.

Can you recommend a good tv in this budget, I like the G10 but it is a little over their budget.

Thanks

What distance do they sit from the TV. Anything more than about 6 feet they will not see the benefit of a full 1080p screen. Hence you could look at the X10 instead which should come within budget.
For me it is plasma all the way!!!!

Panny X10 or LG PQ6000 really.

X10 better blacks and better resistance to IR (not that crucial unless you game with it...).

I prefered the colours of the PQ6000, particularly skin tones. I find the processing excellent too, especially on SD, which in some cases in not that far off HD on the BBC.

I also prefered the PQ6000 as it has a rotating stand, frameless front and it was more pleasing to the eye (to my eye anyway).

Very little between them if you're not brand prejudiced.
