Ok thanks in advance to anyone who can help me here. This forum is really really helpfull. And apologies as I have posted this twice.

I am looking at getting a surround package. I currently have Mordaunt Short speakers but am looking to replace them. What I am looking at is either the Mission FS-1 5.1 package or (at a great deal extra cost) getting a Monitor Audio Radius package. Are these just in a totally different league compared with the mission package? Or am I being totally crazy and should I keep my mordaunt short package.

My current package is:- Although have never really treally loved the sound.

    Mordaunt Short MS906 (2 fronts)
    Mordaunt Short MS905 (Centre)
Mordaunt Short - Bi-Poles for the rears.

Problem is the other half does not like the above set.

    Please help guys.

    Cheers in advance.

My sub is a Yamaha YST SW90.

So the mordaunt short ones are pretty good and are worth keeping rather than replacing?

    Cheers for the help mhuk05.

You don't like the sound- in what way? Have you listened to the MAs?

A better sub e.g. MS909 or BK XLS200 might be worth a try before splashing out on the MAs.

I have the same as you: 906, 905 and 903.

Oh, and what amp do you have?

Thats the thing maybe I have never listened to them properly. I am happy that you get a good sounds from them then?

    The amp I have is a Sony STR-DB 1070.

Just out of interest how high up do you have your bi-poles at the rear?

About 1.5m, facing inwards (they're not on the wall behind the sofa).

Never listended to what properly? Your MSs?

Yes overall the sound is good but the source material makes a difference.

The opening scene of Hero (fighting in the rain) sounds great, you can hear each rain drop around you.
And big noisy films e.g. Gladiator 6.1, also sound great in a big, shake the sofa knid of way.

Whereabouts are you in the UK?

I'm in Staffordshire mate, what about you?

In my last house I wasn't able to set my cinema up properly tbh, so didn't really give it a chance, however, I haven't got to worry about neighbours too much now though.

The problem with the rears would be I would have to mount them on the back wall. (these are the speakers my mrs hates)

You can mount the rears behind or besides you, shouldn't make much difference. Given what you've said I'd try to set them up first before spending any $$$

What don't you like about them? I may be in Staffs next wednesday if you're around (my location is in my profile)?

Yeah think I may try and set them up and see whats they are like.

Is the 1.5m really important for the rears or do you think set at say ear height would be sufficient?

I would be around or about next Wednesday, would just need to leave someone to cover at work.

Again, I think you can play with the height of the rears. I'm thinking of lowering mine slightly.

So your MSs are not setup at all at the moment (in the boxes? ;) )?

They are in boxes at the moment, because my other half really doesn't really want them in the room.

I might get them out tonight and test them.
