Hi guys, I need a bit of help deciding the best mix of upgrades to my system for the best bang for the buck. I'll be hoping to buy these parts on Black Friday so I'm getting my wishlist at the ready.

I will be buying a 32/34 monitor as well so factor that in, please.

I want to be able to play at 1440p and run my new 32/24 monitor plus the 27" and 24" mentioned below. I only do light work on my computer so it's really 100% for gaming. I would rather have really good graphics at the expense of FPS. If I can get 60-ish FPS on most titles and ultra/high graphics I'm happy.

My main games are Sniper Elite 4 and 5, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

My budget is flexible but after selling my current parts on here or ebay I'd be looking to spend around £600-ish in total

At present I have:

B450M Mortar Motherboard
VS450 Power supply
Ryzen 5 2600 CPU + Wraith Stock Cooler
Ballistix 2x8gb (16gb in total) 2400 ram
Asus 1070 GPU
My hard drives are OK so no need to upgrade these
1 X 27inch ViewSonic Monitor 75hz
1 X Benq 24inch

My tentative plan is subject to your help..

B450M Mortar Motherboard....KEEP
VS450 Power supply....CHANGE.... to a 650/750
Ryzen 5 2600 CPU + Wraith Stock Cooler.....CHANGE... to Ryzen 5600 or 5600x with stock cooler
Ballistix 2x8gb (16gb in total) 2400 ram......CHANGE...I need help here, should I add another 16gb of the same so end up with 32gb of 2400 ram or get either 16 or 32 of faster ram (what speed should go for 3200 or 3600..?)
Asus 1070 GPU...CHANGE... RX6600 or RX6700xt depending on the price on Black Friday
My hard drives are OK so no need to upgrade these....KEEP
1 X 27inch ViewSonic Monitor 75hz.....KEEP
1 X Benq 24inch .....KEEP
1 x 32/34inch monitor for 1440 gaming model not yet decided.

Last thoughts....Is my B450 board ok? Will I need to update the bios? Remember I'm not very good at techy things:) I hope the above gives you an idea of my needs and feel free to correct any missteps I might have made, I am not up to speed with these PC things.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and for any advice offered....

The 2600 is still a good cpu. Save your money and just get the best gpu u can dor your money.

I have a 3600 with 3200mhz 16gb ram with same motherboard.
I did have a 450w psu and 1660 super which ran 3x 24” msi monitors with assetto corsa fine at those fps.
I have since upgraded my psu to 850w and the gpu for a nvidia 3070 and now can play pretty much anything on full spec with good fps

Agreed with this.

Keep everything except for your PSU and GPU with an eye on moving to faster RAM (it's reaaaally cheap at the moment)

Here's a good starting point. The PSU is a very good unit. Up to you if you want the AMD options instead.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £916.03 (includes delivery: £11.10)

Thanks guys for the advice, very helpful on the cpu front. I keep my ryzen 5 2600 for now unless theres a major sale on the 5600 or 5600x. So Im guessing the rx6700 is better value for the performance bump over the rx6700xt? I like the 32 gg of ram and psu.........

The 6700XT is a better card but what's your budget?

The 5600X CPU would be a very good improvement over your current CPu but most games are GPU limited so if you want your money to go further, get a better GPU.

I upgraded from a 3300X to a 5700X and the improvement has been fantastic. I run virtual machines to I can make use of the 8 cores which most games can't. Most games can make use of 6 cores.

The IPC gain of the 5000 series over the 2000 series is a lot. Just note that the pricing is a bit all over the place at the moment and my 5700X was £230 brand new. Second hand, I've seen a 5800X go for £165.

My budget is fairly flexible but after I sell on ebay or AVF my 1070, 16gd ram and the 450 psu I'd have a total to spend of around £600-ish. So your AMD option of £546 sounds good

I agree with this - get the PSU, GPU - see how it runs, RAM then as it will help but only if you think you need it otherwise keep your money. This is the end of the road for AM4 Sockets and DDR4 ram so smaller investment now might be better and an upgrade in a year or two to whatever DDR5 motherboard and CPU is good at the tine.
