I have a Sony DCR IP7E micro mv camcorder connected to my PC via IEEE 1394.

The Sony Movieshaker software seems pretty rubbish and/or corrupt as it keeps closing.

When I start up Windows Movie Maker 5.1, my camera is not in the device list to enable capture.

    Anyone help?

If you can get hold of Ulead Movie factory 3 or 4 or VS 9 .. or Pinnacle Studio 9
They support Micro MV capture AFAIK .
I may have a copy of MF4 abouts
PM me if you get stuck

Other wise there isn't much else out there
I would digitise all my micromv to say DVD via settop if I were you as its going to get increasingly difficult to find software support especially now that Vista is upon us:rolleyes:

I have Pinnacle Studio 9, however when I start it up, it immediately closes down, with the "send error report" window....

The same happens with Movieshaker now too....

Nothing will stay open long enough to actually use the software... Any idea what I've done that this has happened?

It sounds like a corrupt registry:rolleyes:: The causes can be legion:mad:

The first ( and easiest) step is to use Windows system restore to a time when the PC was better behaved
