Well I had to compromise with my wife, I wanted as dark as poss without being depressing and dull, she is a purple lover so we went for this

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Matt Emulsion Plummy Accent 2.5L, 5011583020861

It is dark but has a quality stylish colour to it :smashin:

For the ceiling we went for this

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Matt Emulsion Pearly Queen 2.5L, 5011583020854

It goes completely black during films and although my wife wasn't keen at first, when we watched a film for the first time with this decor she realised just how much of a difference it made to the involvement

It is about compromise and in general greys, blacks and darker colours are best. Greys do sound boring but remember you can lift the room with bright colour pictures, cushions or ornaments.
