Help with lens price

I am thinking of purchasing the Sony DT 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 (SAL-18250) lens and wondered if anyone here knows of a cheap place to purchase one?

I can find cheap (£240.00) Tamron versions, but not for the Sony version.

From what I have read, the Sony version is the Tamron with some tweaks, faster focusing being one of the tweaks.

The UK price of the Sony variant does seem excessive compared to the Tamron.

In the US, the prices are more similar. But once again Sony UK would seem to prefer to rip off thier UK customers...

You are not wrong. I am tempted to get the Tamron but from what I have read the Sony is better.

What are the drawbacks if I order one from the USA, and what would be a safe place to order from.
