Hi, i want to buy a laptop very soon and need it for basic microsoft office use, surfing the net, gaming (nothing hardcore), burning/watching dvds and some other bits and pieces as I learn more. I want a system which is a bit future proof (wont 'go out of date'). Ive narrowed it down to the following 3 dell inspiron 6000 systems and just want some quick advice on which you think is best AND best value for money. They all have the same dvd burner, bluetooth, warranty, screens, wifi etc:

    1) has: 1.86GHz centrino - 80GB HD - 1280MB RAM – 128MB Shared - £880

    2) has: 1.73GHz centrino - 80GB HD - 1280MB RAM – 64MB ATI X300 - £840

    3) has: 1.86GHz centrino - 80GB HD - 1024MB RAM - 128MB ATI X300 - £790

    So whats your quick opinion?

    Really appreciate the help

    Thanks :D
Is that true even thought the first 2 have 256mb more RAM. I know price isnt everything but on the dell website, the first spec is more expensive than the first then last?

an extra 256mb will hardly make a difference with 1000+ already in the system... whereas the 128mb graphics will certainly be an improvement over the 64mb.

if option 3 was the dearest of the three, I'd still go for that one. ;)

On the grf front the x300 (you'd need to move upto x700 to do that really) will be slightly better than the intel but still won't let you play any recent 3d games very well. Of the 3 options 3 is certainly the better though.
