Took the plunge and will be auditioning an arcam CD72t with the option to buy for a touch under £400. I've currently got a short list of int amps that I have in mind to go with the above cd player and would like any relevant feedback.

    Nad c350 ( cheepest I've found for £219)
    Rotel Ra-02 ( Can't find cheaper than £350)
    Arcam A75+ ( Around £470).

I will be making do with my denon until I have sufficient funds to move over to a two channel system for cd playback. (credit card maxed out at the min!), but would welcome any suggestions to narow down the field even further. Is the arcam worth the extra price hit or will the Nad suffice.

    thanx

Rotel do an identical (internals) amp - the RA-01 which doesn't have a remote for £250. I didn't consider the NAD 'cos it was ugly. The Arcam and Rotel are great amps for the money - I just prefered the Rotel, but it is a personal thing.

While you're at it I would consider the Rotel CD player (RCD-02) which is a lot cheaper than the Arcam but is very good - they do sound quite different (Arcam is very refined but maybe a bit too restrained, Rotel maybe a bit too lively for some tastes but it goes well with the RA-02, I still can't make up my mind which to buy)

It will not be advertised at this price. You will have to push them.
    Good luck.

RS didn't have the nad in stock offered it for £240 though but came down to match the £219 offered by audiovision. Thought it was a wasted trip till I nocked them down on an arcam A75+ to £410 (50 notes less than anything else i've found) but i'm holding out to audition it with the cd72t thats on its way. If it sounds much better than my denon (£400 much more) then I'll probably go for whichever i think sounds best between the nad and arcam. I'm told they sound quite different and it all comes down to personal taste. (and the £190 difference!). i'll let you know the outcome- should get the cdp tomorrow or Tuesday.

The Arcam's are quite articulate and are about finer details, rather than lots of power/bass etc. Not sure about the Nads though.

Why not look at the Arcam A65+ as its had some good reveiws and was partnered with B&W 602s3 in a setup by What hifi S&V last month IIRC. Might be worth a listen and should be had for sub £350:eek: :smashin:

    Sub £300 Here!!!

Both Arcams also have a "Processor" button which fixes the volume level - handy if you combine it with your 3802 and drive the fronts.

Nobber ... I think only the A75+ has the processor button.

lynx ... If you really mean the A65 ... then the original A65 (and A75) weren't very well recieved and were quickly replced by the A65+ and A75+ models.
