Has anybody got an idea of what sort of bracket I need to fix the gap at the top of the door above my fish tank? It was bespoke and the hinges and everything came supplied. When it came to fitting it I noticed the cover isn't flush with wall because of the bracket size.

Problem is the company have since gone under so can't get hold of them and I have no idea what size of bracket or type i need. Think it is a concealed cup hing but I have no idea what I need to fix this gap. I have no idea what size this one currently is!!

Are you sure the hinge does have adjustment screws - I know it is a different type but hinges you get on kitchen cupboards, wardrobes etc. usually have 2 or 3 adjustments that can be made. They are very intuitive and it takes a bit of practice to get your head round how they work. But with those, it is surprising just how big you make the gaps if you adjust badly.

The reason I ask is tyat I find it hard to believe that a gap that size is by design so I wonder whether the hinge is simply badly adjusted.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

They're definitely Blum hinges, you'll be able to sort that gap fairly easily.
With the hinge fully extended, like the first picture, look directly up and you should see an adjustment screw. Turn the screw so the top of the door moves towards the carcass.

Thanks for the reply guys. I had a look yesterday and could not see any adjustment screws like on my kitchen cupboards. Will have a look when I get home. I really hope it is that simple :)

Adjusted the screw. Didn't make enough of a difference. Still large gap there. No idea what size of hinge I need now :-(

Have you tried searching Google images for your tank and looked if they all have the gap showing, might just be the way its designed?

I would buy some Blum hinges from the likes of screwfix to replace them with.

It is a bespoke in wall tank and a bespoke surround. I told them what I wanted it is just unfortunate that they somehow got the hinges wrong!

Is there any particular size I should look for or are they all the same and I just happen to have strange set?

Theoretically you could move the mounting point of the hinges on the door down the necessary cm or so, but unless you have the right tools and the skills to do it I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah way above my skill level!

I have taken it off and the box type part on the right hand side of the hinge comes off. So I just need to get one with half the depth and attach that to it I think.

Tried a Blum hinge from my kitchen and doesn't work as the it needs yo sit inside the frame
