It would certainly be ‘very clear’ for half a second or so and then the headphone drivers would likely fry!!!!

Unless specifically designed for such use Headphones are not designed to be driven by the Speaker outputs on an Amplifier – strange or otherwise.

There are Switch units that will allow you to use the Spk outputs of the Amp to drive a pair of Spks and or a pair of headphones - BT911 2-Way Loudspeaker Control

Amps use attenuator circuits to reduce the output level on the headphone socket. These range from a simple series resistor to a more complex voltage divider circuit.

If you are handy with a soldering iron the link below shows a voltage divider implementation. Double the circuit for stereo.
