I am going to get a yamaha AV59 to hook up to my Toshiba HDE1 HDDVD player and my Sky box. I was wondering if anybody could point me in direction of exactly what cables i need. To link the HD DVD player to the amp, i need an optical cable. Can anyone show me which one? Also, to hook the sky up, is it possible to use scart for video and then use a seperate cable for sound? Because i can only input the sound through the phono red and white inputs. What cable would I need for that?
Thanks for the help!

Hi

You need an optical cable like this.

For your sky you could use a scart to phono break out like this
:smashin:

Your TV may have audio passthrough in which case there should be left and right (red and white) phono socket outputs on the back which you can hook up to the amp. Failing that, you can use a breakout adapter to hook phono cables up to the audio pins on the scart from the Sky box - something like this or this, rather than the one linked above by sammy as that would convert the scart output to 3 phono leads forcing you to run video through the amp via composite (ugh!).
