I have purchased a Sony DVP 725 and am currently in the middle of buying a Denon 3801 amp (as reading your reviews this seems a great choice). The problem is as I am new at all this I'm not sure which speakers to buy. I am looking at the Definitive Tech.Proseries...is this a good choice? They are a little expensive so I will have to wait a while. If these are a poor choice then could you recommend a good set of satelites in black that have a higher wattage output. Denon 3801 gives out over 100watts so i'd like speakers to give out the same sort of wattage. I would like speakers that are not to chunky, especially the centre, and they must be good with music too. Sorry to be fussy but as with all the other letters I read it's the wife giving me an ear bashing that causes me to be pickey.
You could copy everyone else and go for B&Ws, or go for something refined and stylish like the Celestion C series.
I apologies. Like I said I'm new at this. When I said satelite speakers I mean those tiny little things that are discreet like the Cinema six pack. Not the big floorstanding things. Sorry
How much you wanna spend ? You could try the Ruark Vita 5.1 package, Pros - small, stylish, good build quality, powered sub Con - costly (£1500 the set)
I've got the Definitive Tech Pro Cinema 80's and Sub and like them very much for both Home Cinema and music, although I believe that choice of AV amp is important when it comes to reproducing music too. As you say they're not cheap (about £1000). I also auditioned the Energy Take 5 sub sat package (about £650) which had good sound, build and reviews, but not as good as the Def Tech (in my humble opinion). Perhaps you might like to consider them as they wont blow your budget - easily done, I know !! Regards, Simon.
