Have been using Spendor's original trolley stand for the BC1 speakers, which are completely inadequate! Not only are they not on spikes (on castors instead!!!!!!), but they are at the wrong height. I'm sure many owners of the Spendor BC1 and even the SP1/2E of Spendor's current range of speakers have already faced this problem and wonder how they solved it. I'd be really really grateful if anyone could recommend a suitable speaker stand. Ideally, it should have a top plate to match the base of the speaker, i.e. 30cm x 30 cm, and be 44cm high! Thanks for any help you can give me. Cheers, :)

I favour an open frame stand for the BC1s, rigid and spiked. Most other speakers I prefer massive heavy columns. I had mine custom made.

In my experience, heavy speakers prefer open stands whilst lighter ones seem to work best with heavy (mass loaded) stands

Thanks, Nic. Londondecca has said the same. Where did you get yours custom made?

P.S. Had the height I need for the stands wrong! :D I had got the information from a Hi-Fi Choice booklet I have on loudspeakers published in 1976, but misinterpreted it. It gave the listening height above the base of the speaker, although Spendor themselves give a slightly different number of around 48cm. Considering that listening height is about 94cm, that would mean a stand of about 50cm tall. Would you agree?

46 cm. Pretty close. You didn't say who made the stands for you. Cheers :)
