:lease:My daughter wants a new digital camera for her birthday before she goes travelling for a few months in January. Her requirements are:

    • electric charger (not just batteries)
    • fast start up (not waiting a long time to take the photo)
    • fast image capture (no long pauses between shots)
    • good zoom
    • good quality photos
    • lightweight
    • user friendly

She likes the of the Casio Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7 but it only uses batteries which is a big disadvantage.

Can somebody out there give some advice please?????

think with mentioning zoom you have to look at the panny tz3 surely. Been getting some great reviews and tons of people on the forum have one

I agree the Lumix range are excellent - indeed I have just bought my daughter one. (not the TZ3 but an earlier model) and it produces wonderful snapshot photos and has terrific specs, and is very portable. Hard to beat, although the 1Ds Mk III would just pip it for my vote.

Surely it is neither lightweight nor especially user friendly.. and it may not take kindly to just doing snapshots:devil:!
Also It also doesnt look like it would be "travel friendly":rotfl:

    strike off shortlist!!;)
