ive just hooked up my MD player (sony) with a tosslink, 1 input and 1 output to my yamaha avx620 amp.

It records CD's when played through my DVD player, but when I try and record a soundtrack from a music DVD, I get a cannot copy message on my MD....

Any ideas how I can record a soundtrack from a DVD via my amp to MD....

    Cheers

    :)

MD needs a 16 bit PCM signal for recording digitally. CD is 16 bit/44.1 kHz PCM, so this works.

With DVDs, your DVD-payer is outputting Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 (some DVDs are PCM however), which your MD cannot decode. Just put your DVD-player digital output on "PCM" and then you should be able to record it, because the player then will convert everything to PCM.
