I decided to try to set up an old cheap remote on my new TV (don't ask). I didn't have a code so i went through the set up process but after apparent success (the TV turned off) when i tried to turn the TV on again it clicked and went dead. The standby light doesn't come on and neither the universal nor the standard remote has any effect. Unplugging makes no difference and the fuse isn't blown. Can anyone please tell me what might have happened and how to remedy?

If it's still under guarantee contact wherever you bought it from and report it as dead.

Doubt it had anything to do with the remote.
Report it as dead to your retailer

Not really what i wanted to hear, but thanks for the replies. It did crash a couple of times before i tried to set up the universal remote so you're probably right. Back it will go.

You really should have mentioned this in your original post as it confirms the fault had nothing to do with the universal remote control.
