Hi All,

Over the last few weeks, I have been wondering more than ever whether to trade in the PS3 and go back to 360. However I feel its probably because of the lack of games at the moment thats making me consider this option. Now at the moment I have Motorstorm which I quite liked but on single player I just got a bit bored as I got to the Level 4's and just got tired of same courses etc. I have COD3 which I completed and quite enjoyed and also the same with Resistance and a couple of months ago I also bought Godfather: Dons Edition which I quite liked also and have more or less completed that except one last mission. Now to tie me over until PES 2008 I bought PES6 on the PS2 which I found taking up most of my time  as I dont really fancy anything else at moment.

I really think its a great bit of kit and at the time it cost me £550 or so with the 3 games I got and I just cant bring myself to trade in and risk losing half of what I paid just to go back to a machine I traded in in the first place. I really want to keep it and hopefully in the coming months the games will start coming out that will show the capabilities of the PS3.

What should I do guys?

Cheers

It seems that the awful lack of PS3 games is coming to an end in September/October so it would be a shame to get rid of your PS3 just as things are about to get better :) And yes, god bless PS2 games for helping us through these past few months, I'm spending most of my time playing Odin Sphere, Ghost Rider and Rule of Rose on my PS3

Cheers Fella, what upcoming games are you looking forward to?, I have to admit that Stranglehold is looking tempting. I looked at GRAW but I played a demo on the 360 but just couldent get into it :(.

:D I feel the same with my 360

You have all the EA 08 games to look forward to. Also sega rally, Call Of Duty 4 and Assassin's Creed. That takes you in to december.

To one degree or another:

Heavenly Sword
Lair
Sega Rally
FIFA/PES 2008
Folklore
NBA Live 08 (including the top European teams for the first time ever )
Eye of Judgment
Call of Duty 4
Unreal Tournament III
Army of Two
Haze
Time Crisis 4
Uncharted Drake's Fortune

All of the above (plus quite a few others) are supposed to be coming out over the next 3 months. A nice mix of PS3 exclusives and multi-format releases.

In the coming months there is quite a bit too look forward to I must say and what with the Blue Ray player as well makes it good value for money, I think what I miss most about the 360 is Live and how easy it was to setup a game etc but hopefully "Home" can replicate Live.

Ill stick with it I think and see how it goes :)

Well not so long ago I posted a review of the PS3. I was waxing lyrical about it. I'm a casual gamer so lack of games was not a problem, with all the other features I thought it was the machine for me.

Well.....a few weeks passed and I fancied a new game, I couldn't find anything I really liked. I then heard about a possible price reduction so I decided I had to make a decision. I decided I was getting fed up of paying for a machine that I wasn't free to use because of game restraints. I flogged it on ebay. I lost £50, but I think it was a great business decision. I have bought a 360 and will get a PSP Slim next week and still have change. I think a great decision.

If I had a PS3 still I would be very concerned about the lack of games. Everybody was saying how Heavenly Sword would blow everybody away. How wrong they seem to be. The machine needs games without delay and they need to show the power of the PS3.

If I was you I would wait, you didn't get out at the right time so you should be patient and wait to see what happens otherwise your loss will be large. I am hoping the PS3 will meet my expectations in a few months and I will trade for a new one.

I was lucky and love the 360 at the moment, but the PS3 if they can get it right will be twice as good. I would say one word......Patience.

Don't do it.

You obviously don't want to (given the various responses you posted to people who had answered your same question in the 360 forum http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=592750 ) and so it would seem an extremely bizarre move to get rid of something you want to keep

Seems pretty clear cut to me what you think you should do regardless of what anyone else thinks *shrug*

I suppose if I was going to get rid of the PS3 I should of done it by now as I have had it 5 months now since release. Hopefully in the next few months my decision to keep the PS3 will be justified.

I think its purely down to the games being quite dried up at the moment is the reason why I am considering getting rid, but I will give it a few months yet and see what happens.

Remember what it was like with the 360 at launch, the amount of posts from people complaining about a lack of games, also pro evo will be better on the ps3 as it will be easier to put option files, not to mention it will look graphically slightly better and feel nicer on the ps3 pad due to konami still not using 16-way directional movement which is why the d-pad is better for control. That there is reason enough for me to stick with the ps3, gt5 and metal gear are just bonuses :D Some may say why have a ps3 for one game, but games for me get boring very quickly and a game like pro evo has infinite replay value for me.

Yeah I know what you mean, Pro Evo is only a couple of months away now but its making me a bit unsettled with the lack of PS3 videos around.

Will we just be able to download the option files to the HDD from a web site?
Also have Konami actually come out and said it'll look better on PS3? and if it's better with the D pad why will it be better on the PS3 pad as i've always found the D-pad to be slightly painful to use for long periods.

The d-pad on the ps3 is better than the 360's d-pad though, there have been numerous magazines that have commented on the ps3 version being graphically sharper than the 360. The build used at the gc2007 was an early build and the 360 build was actually better looking.

With regards to option files one way of doing it will be by downloading the option file to a usb pen drive and transferring the data to the ps3, the 360 is not going to be as straightforward when it comes to transferring data due to ms trying to clamp down on game save sharing etc, there will be ways around it (the xsata for example) but it won't be as straight foward as the ps3.

True, but if they can get the best out of it, PS3 is truley the great all rounder....it needs to fulfill its potential though.

PS3 even looks next gen, I hope they sort the games, I'd buy another like a shot.

I just hope the ps3 doesn't follow in the psp's footsteps :( Huge potential that never lives up to it....

AndyUK84 ...

You already started a thread on the subject not too long ago which you actually posted both in the PS3 and 360 forums. The thread in question is here ...

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=592750

Rsther then start a new thread it would have been better to bump that one up and continue the discussion there. However I appreciate the PS3 one was closed as the forums do not allow duplicate threads. I will leave this one open for now but please in future try to post in an existing thread if there is one.

Just one final note if this thread does deteriorate into a 360 vs PS3 argument like many have before it will be closed. Let's make sure it stays on topic. Thanks.

Sorry Moogle, I did think about bumping the other thread but as it was in the 360 forum I wanted some opinions from fellow PS3 owners. Hopefully it will stay on topic, I just think when it comes to games at the present time the 360 is obviously the best choice but the PS3 I feel has a lot more potental thats why I am swaying towards the idea of keeping it and see what comes out in next 6 months or so.

Well Andy i am the opposite, i am thinking of getting rid of my 360, buying bioshock this weekend and Halo 3 next month, apart from that nothing else floats my boat on the 360 maybe apart from Mass Effect.

Game coming up I will be getting

Pro Evo 2008 (Surely this will be a lot better than the 360 version, I heard the PS3 version of this takes up 18gb on the blu ray disk, could be wrong though)
Tiger Woods 2008
Call Of Duty 4
Unreal Tournament III
StrangleHold
Mercenaries 2: World In Flames
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box
Lair
Blacksite: Area 51
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Army Of Two
Haze
FIFA Street 3
Burnout: Paradise
Tom Clancy's EndWar

And of course HOME

Honestly speaking if the PS3 couldn't play PS3 games I would STILL buy one as:

-upscaling PS2 game player
-upscaling DVD player
-Blu-ray player
-SACD player
-Media centre

The games can only be a plus

Cheers Guys

I am think I am going to keep it, I just know I would probably regret it if I got rid just when the decent games are coming out.

Do you realise that all but Lair and possibly Haze are on 360? Have you read the Lair reviews?

18GB or not, PES will be virtually identical on 360 and PS3. There really is nothing to suggest otherwise.

Considering a move from 360 to PS3 - based on games, no less - is madness IMHO. Next year, who knows? It'll be cheaper to do so and there may eventually be more games to make it worthwhile.
