Help!!! Spooler subsystem app error

I,m pulling my hair out. Have bought recent PC, with XP Pro. trying to install printer (HP laserjet 1015). having loads of problems with above error message. Been looking through google, and M$ site, but no solutions working so far.

Anybody else have this problem, and solved it??

Is the printer (spooler) service running?
Look in Admin tools -> services to check its not disabled.
