Hey all, just setting up a new system (well old system that ive hardly used)

Basically currently the sky hd box is connected via hdmi into input 1 of the samsung plasma (its also says hdmi-cec sky +hd anynet on a seperate input. Ps3 via hdmi 2.

The av or surround system is a samsung hte-5500 and is connected via optical to the tv, should i connect this to the sky box?

Also should i connect the sky box to the samsung surround unit then that to the tv?

cheers, all

I believe the 5500 has both HDMI and optical inputs. I would connect the PS3 to the 5500 via HDMI, that way you can watch blu rays and dvd, which will give HD sound from blu rays. The Sky HD box I would connect with the optical cable to the 5500 as Sky only supports Dolby to 5.1 and leave a direct HDMI connection to the TV. You will have to select DD on the Sky box menu. When using the 5500 for sound from the Sky box you will have to mute TV sound.

The 5500 can connect to the TV by HDMI out.

Sky supports 5.1 over HDMI so you could plug your sky box straight into your amp to reduce cables if you like along with your PS3, as long as you have enough HDMI ports.
