Help setting up my Sharp LC26GA4E

    Am I going mad. I have set up my new tv with component for the dvd but I can not get a picture, just a black screen. I have followed the instructions but no luck. Can anyone put me straight. :lease:

    My DVD player is a Denon DVD1910. any ideas?

    Is it set on input 3 on the LCD.

    Have you selected component in the setting in the TV and also the DVD player. Then select either interlaced or progressive on the Sharp depending on what you are outputting from the Denon. I assume it will be progressive.

    How do I select component on the dvd player, I can not get a picture to look at a menu. Also how do I select either interlaced or progressive on the tv. I can not see a setting for this. Am I dumb!

    first off set up the dvd with the composite cable that came with it,in the setup menu select Custom>Display and change the video out at the bottom.

    For progressive on the tv set it to input three then press menu>picture>advanced>I/P setting(at the bottom)

    I have done that but am still getting a blank screen, this is starting to bug me now. thanks for your help guys

    do you get a picture through composite, s-video or scart?

    perhaps your dvd player doesn't send any sync info over component? Try connecting composite as i seem to recall reading that is sometimes used to provide a sync signal

    What joy, it is now working. Is there any way of improving the picture, It looks ok but I was hoping for better?

    for that search for sharp ga4 settings in this forum and you should find a few suggestions. Be prepared to experiment :)
