    Hi guys
New to the game, and need some help

I am about to buy a Samsung 42" plasma
Now is either the PS42D4SXX for £1899 from Currys
or the PS42V4SX for around £1300 from the net

i've seen previous posts on these models
the problem is they look identical but i think
i solved the mystery and found the difference

The PS42V4SX hasnt got PC connection
    I badly need this
Can somone please confirm that their PS42V4SX has or hasnt got PC con.

    Cheers guys

    Andy

the samsung models are horrendous implementations of a surprisingly great plasma panel, unfortunately. have you seen it in action?

forget the samsungs, forget the LGs.

on your budget, I would only get either the Philips 42PF9946 (my recommendation) or a 'separates' package based around a Panasonic TH42PWD (which will give a very similar end result, IMHO). Choose what's best for you.

A lot of people here may rubbish the Philips, but it is easily seen at every Currys/Dixons in the land so you can make your own mind up. I have just bought one, and everyone in the house agrees the picture is better than the Panasonic Viera, including my sister and brother-in-law who own said model.

join the club mate, do the research, ask the questions, but more importantly IMO get to demo as many screens as you can, and not just DVD demo's on the screens.

The V4 has a DVI input but no VGA and you can't connect a PC to it, I used to own a PS42V4SX and neither my Mac nor PC would work on the DVI port. The Samsung TV isn't very good quality either, You can buy a Panasonic 42 inch PWD7 for well under £1800 which is really good and can connect to a PC.

    Gizzers,

    Thanks a lot
I was going to order the V4 from the internet the other day

After your comments, i thought give it another close look at currys (D4)
completely useless, the LG next to it made it look really bad
I was impressed with the LG (not sure of model , around 1500)
but still wouldnt go for LG

Thanks guys, back to the drawing board on the Panasonics,
    Philips and Hitachis

Yes, forget the Samsung plasmas :suicide: . I also almost ordered the P42D4S and good lord, thank God I didn't. I loved the design of the TV and almost clicked the ORDER NOW button.. then I found this forum which gave me doubts about my purchase so I decided to delay with a day or 2 to checkout the local dealer and see how the TV actually does. And when I did see it I was shocked. IT'S BAD !

I bought the Panasonic PW7 as everybody's recommendations as the best plasma panel at this point in time. I was expecting it this friday though it didnt arrive, i suppose monday, but I can already feel how great it is :) Can't wait :)
