Help required - New PC old Ipod Touch

Basically my PC hard drive died so I have a 32GB Ipod Touch almost full of music, I have a laptop and can load Itunes onto it, but when I connect this will it sync with my Ipod and delete all the songs?

From what I remember the option to manually manage songs only appears after the Ipod has connected and then sync'd for the first time.

Any ideas please?

Yes it will hence the importance of backing up data. You might get away with it if you own a drag+drop player but iPods are not it

Cheers for the reply, managed to sort it though, cracking little program call Sharepod, allowed me to connect and backup my music library.
