Just bought a badboy PS3 to finally experience Blu Ray in full 1080p beauty on my Toshiba 42" Regza LCD 42X3030D - yay

However, on setup of the PS3, the console was unable to detect the 1080p setting on both the HDMI1 and HDMI2 inputs of my Regza.

The maximum resolution that the console was able to detect was 1080i.

I have since tried numerous times to force the PS3 to detect the 1080p output by turning the console off and holding the on button for 5 seconds before reattempting display setup but have had no luck whatsoever.[IMG]

The PS3 is connected to the Regza LCD via 2m Venom brand HDMI cable.

I have updated the PS3 to the latest software of v2.2.

The current software version of the Regza 42X3030D is v2.9.
Is this a common problem with this setup of LCD and PS3?

The 42X3030D has a native setting of 1080p so I find it odd that the PS3 cannot detect it and that it occurs with both HDMI inputs, demonstrating similar features.

Hope someone can help - I'm losing the plot![IMG]

Have you tried going into the display settings and manually adding 1080p to the list of supported resolutions?

Hi Indy - yes...I've tried the custom/manual addition route...the screen flickers and goes blank for 30s before returning to previous resolution...happens every time!

Where did you get your Tosh from? The only reason I ask is I got one from Martin Dawes a bit ago and couldn't get exact scan to work. When I looked at the back of the LCD I found that they had sent me a C3030D. This model is only HD ready, not full HD like the X series.

I know it might sound daft but make sure its the right LCD. They are pretty much identical to look at.

    Tony.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Older HDMI cables or budget ones could cause this problem. Just another thought :smashin:

    No worries...panic over!

Bought a new £24.99 1.5m HDMI cable from Maplins and 1080p is now detected by the PS3 - hooray!!![IMG][IMG][IMG]

The low budget Venom HDMI cable that I got bundled with the PS3 didn't seem to be able to cope with 1080p or must be faulty...so glad it's not the TV or the PS3!

Thanks for all your help guys - much appreciated.
