help, preowned 60gb

hi , ive bought a pre owned 60gb but ive just realized that it does not have playstation 3 wrote across the casing ? this is a present for someone so i dont want a dud

the shop (gamestation) says there are different editions etc but i cant find any evidence on the web.

that is weird. people can change the face plate. see if the warrently sticker on the side is gone or damaged.

Never heard of that myself,take it back if you are not 100% happy.

either try it out or take it back. or ask them wat test the have done on it to make it resaleable

they have offered for me to now take it back and swap it for one that has got the wording on it.......

Probably best to swap it - mine has PLAYSTATION 3 across the casing, and its not a sticker, its set in the plastic. Your one could have had a fall, and hence they swapped the casing, not making a great job of it. If its been dropped it may have internal damage which isnt affecting it yet.

thanks think you could be right, there are no indentations in the plastic to suggest there were ever any words there, not gonna take the chance, ill go swap it just to put my mind at ease.

It looks very much like whoever owned it before you simply replaced the outer shell for whatever reason. This could simply be an aesthetic choice but obviously it could also have been because of damage. In which case if there's even a tiny chance it's been hit/dropped in any way i'd get it replaced.

On a sidenote i kind of like it though - very clean looking.

i think the ps3 is a good looking machine, but with the face plate it looks dog ugly imo

funny how a little bit of writing can make all the difference

Good link mabo - although the only reason I can think someone would change their faceplate for a black version is due to damage, maybe a drop and the case cracked.

Thanks for all the replies, i have taken it back and changed it!!!!
I think the cover must have been changed, when i got back to shop, there were 3 guys there, 1 of which was telling me its completly normal and that some of the first ones came like this and the other 2 were just looking saying they had never seen one like it before!!
Either way glad i changed it, just gotta test it now. and it has a years warrenty.

the new one has a few surface scrathes on ....nothing major......but i read somewhere using some scratchex may help?? Anyone tried this?
