help pls- no sound from amp to anything!!

I've just purchased the following set up with the following connections, but having just connected it all, I am getting no sound from my speakers from any source:

Hitachi 32ld7200- hdmi cable to samsung hd850 dvd player

samsung hd850 dvd player- digital coaxial to Cambridge Audio 540r receiver

ntl set top box- scart to tv and scart with phono cable to Cambridge Audio 540r receiver.

Kef 1005 speaker package with subwoofer connected to receiver via preamp subwoofer out on the receiver, and to line input left on the subwoofer.

What I'm really after is some advice on how to get sound out via my reciever to my . What am I doing wrong? I'm certainly not sure if I've connected the cable to the subwoofer, for one thing?!!

Pls, pls, help. I don't know where to start!!

 

If your NTL Box has phono outputs (some do some dont) try those direct to the amp and see if that makes a difference.
