My little 14" tv and vcr combi broke down recently so I decided to buy separates. I bought a LGv880 vcr from comet, it made a screeching noise when playing tapes so I took it back, exchanged it for the Sharp VC-MH705
HM and I couldnt believe my bad luck when it made a loud whirring noise when playing LP tapes, its slightly less noisy when playing SP. So I took it back and got a refund. The sales people at comet told me all new VCRs these days make loud noises when playing tapes... can this be true?

I wouldnt be so bothered if it wasn't so loud, even when I turn my telly up its loud!

Could someone please please recommend a nice quiet VCR when playing tapes? :lease:

I would prefer
1. Silver
2. Toshiba - to go with my new Toshiba 24z33 tele and DVD player
3. Budget approx 100 pounds or less

but the Tosh make is not essential, I will be happy with any make that plays tapes quietly!

Cheers!
