i am planning on purchasing a camcorder to video my brothers party, so there will be low light etc, have been out today looking but there are so many cameras and sales staff always say buy this one (obviously the most expensive) so can anyone recomend a model which would be suitable for this situation which is fairly cheap a it wont get used much after the party

Sony DCR-HC21 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder... m happy with it's over all performance. It is easy to use and the touch screen features allow for a much more compact device and basically m using it in a business environment so it is hard to say how it would work on the personal front… but yes!! It is not a bad option…

For the price of a camera that won'tget used afterwards you could probably pay someone to video it and produce a pretty good looking DVD!! That way you won't be stuck behind the camera all night! Just a thought!

Precisely, For the cost or even less ( especially for once use)

    You can get somebody with

an even better Camcorder than you would buy
who knows how to use it ( may even have own lighting)
and give you a nice edit. ( and DVD )

Plus as Richard says you get a chance to just enjoy the party ( and get to be in the video):rotfl:

Im sure you can get a friend or ( friend of a friend) who likes doing these things and would for not too much money

As you can see :From buying the camcorder to later on watching the party DVD video afterwards involves a bit than just parting with the cash at Dixons / Currrys.;)
