Help Please on Formatting DVD's

    Hi, Can anyone help me? I have a Pioneer DVD RW DVR-106D. which does not reconise either of 2 DVD-RW's burnt on it. Should I have formatted the DVD's first??. I have burnt several DVD-R's ok, and they play on stand alone players, I didnt format these either!! am I doing it wrong.

    Did you finalise the DVD-RWs?

    Hi.
    I thought it finalised them automatically? it did not ask, I was burning analog movie from a camcorder via a capture card??

    Depends upon your burning programme but most require you to check the box to finalise DVD-RW disks.

    this is quite possibly due to the media you are using. I have a NEC 2500a and when I use TDK DVD-RW in it it burns them but then has problems recognising the disc especially if they have been in another burner at all. When I use Verbatim there is no problem . Having said that the Cyberhome DVD player I have recognises the TDK discs but not the Verbatim ones so go figure. Try another brand of DVD-RW
