If I'm not getting a test tone from my sub does it mean the channel has blown?

I've swapped the sub but still nothing.

The amp is a Marantz SR4400.

Thanks,

Greg.

Have you checked the connection between the sub and receiver (Mine came loose the other week without my knowing and i noticed the sub wasnt working). Then of course check the power!!

Also check you receivers settings and make sure none of your settings have changed. Subwoofer should of course be set to YES.

Hardly technical help but you never know. Report back

Thanks for replying, yes tried all that and reset the amp.
Would I hear the Chanel blow or would there be any obvious signs other that no sub?
Also can I do any checks or will I need to take it somewhere?

Thanks.

Nothing better test than the test tone to make sure your speakers/sub are connected properly.

Does your sub have its own independant volume control, other than that im not sure mate.

When you say you swapped the sub, do you mean you tried another sub and still no feedback?

Yes it does have it's own volume.
Yeah I tried another sub but still nothing.
Looks like I'll have to get it looked at.

Last two things i can think of are,

1) change the cable round. Some times you get directional cables that can only send information one way, &

2) Change the cable altogether if you have one spare.

Im sure theres nothing else you could do to test it, but i could be wrong.

Did you do anything out of the ordinary that could of blown the channel?

Thanks for your advise, I took the amp out of it's enclosure today as I had some free time and it turns out I had plugged the sub into the 6.1-in terminal and not the out. I'm such a spanner!
All working great now so I'm very happy.

Cheers again.

Greg.

Good stuff
