Help please for best set up for onkyo 507, blu ray and cable box

Just purchased an onkyo 507. Coming early next week.

Could someone advise what is the best way to set it up. I want to use my blu ray to upscale video not the amp. I also have a virgin + cable box. What should I plug into what to get the best sound from the TV, blu ray and cable box?

Does anybody also know how to get the best sound out of the amp? Any advised settings.

What should I plug into what to get the best sound from the TV, blu ray and cable box?

Your best options would be:

V+ box to Amp via HDMI
BD player to Amp via HDMI
TV to Amp via optical out or RCA analogue stereo
Amp to TV via HDMI



The best sound settings would depend on your listening space, your speakers anf your preferences. No two set-ups are ever the same and the best thing o do is read the manual and set things up the way you like them.
