    Is it me???

At the risk of sounding really thick - I am trying to connect my new samsung hd-950 via the component connection. Tried the RGB component cables and connected audio cables. Got sound but no picture.

Stuck as to what to do and what I am doing wrong. Tosh helpline said it might be the TV and assured me I seemed to have connected things correctly.

Is 'Y Pb Pr' component input the same as regular RGB component as on the back of the DVD?

Even borrowed a mates 'top quality' component leads but same happened.

    Any ideas? thanks

You may have to look at how your player outputs it's component picture.
From setting up my Pioneer 565 DVD player, set the scart output as video and not RGB, then choose prog when connected by component.

also check the sound output from the dvd player.

pcm is what you want, not bitstream.

    Thanks all.

Turned out that you need to change settings on DVD to P scan /component. Which is kind of hard when it is an on screen menu system and you have no picture via component prior to this. Had to use scart lead to get picture, then change DVD setup and then could remove scart.

Thanks anyway - a lesson learned!
