    Hi,

I am very new to this so please can you explain in basic terms.

I have a set of 5 speakers which were previously connected to my television. The cable is just two wires sticking out, which were put into clamps at the back of my tv.

I was wondering can they be used as speakers for my PC?

If so, what do i need to connect them to the PC?

I believe i need an amplifier. If so, where do you recommend i can get one from for cheap?

Also, what is the technical term for the cable with the two wires at the end, which you attach to clamps? There must be something shorter than that!

    Thanks

If the cable attaches to the speakers ..its normally called speaker cable..

You will need from your pc

...sound card a line level output this feeds the music signal to the amp via interconnects using most commonly rca phono plugs...

or to a usb dac and take the line level outputs to an amp

As to buying an amp it really depends where abouts in the world you are ...
if your looking for a small amp to run speakers look for the sonic impact T amp this only has 3.5mm mini jack inputs but you can cross that bridge later.

I have to say your not likely to get great sound from tv speakers so don't go over the top in the amp costs..
