    Hi Guy !

After 2 weeks of wating I finally received by little Rel 150e sub yesterday, boy! this sub is small and beautiful with a size of 290 x 290 x 330 but it quite heavy weighing 11kg , just nice for my small HT room , I am so anxious to set it up and listen to the clean deep punch of it, but I am not sure the setting below is correct pls. help out .

This is what I prefer :
When listen to music I want the Main speaker ran full frequency range and any thing below it will go to the sub with the Rel selector mode set to '1'
As for waching movie I will set the selector mode to '2' and any frequency below 90 Hz ( AX1 internal cross-over ) will direct to the Sub.

Below is the setting of the sub contorl . pls. correct me if I am wrong:

In the Heigh Level setting I connect from the speaker output "B" of my Yamaha AX1 :
    Cross-over frequency set at : 58Hz
    Heigh Level volume set at about : 1/3 ( SPL read @ 75db )
    Selector mode : 1
    Slam / Depth : Depth

In the Low Level Setting I connect a Ixos Gamma Gemotry Phono connect cable to the +12 low level RCA input behind the REL :
    Cross-over frequency set at : 58Hz
    Low Level volume set at about : 1/3 ( SPL read @ 75db )
    Selector mode : 2
    Slam / Depth : Depth

This is my Yamaha AX1 setting :
    Main speaker : Large
Center, Rear Center and Rear speaker : Small
LFE ? Bass out : Both
    Dolby Digital : 0dB
    DTS LFE Level : 0dB

    Speaker spec.

    Main speaker Mission 782
    Frequency Response : 48-20kHz

    Center speaker Mission 77c1
    Frequency Response : 75-20kHz

    Rear speaker Mission 77ds
    Frequency Response : 100-20kHz

If you are using both the neutric and the phono connections you don´t have to switch between mode 1 and mode 2. This switch never bypasses the subs "ABC" for the high level input.

You have a few "errors" in your setup, here is what you should do:

Leave the sub always in position 2, uses the internal crossover for high and bypasses it for low (position 1 uses the crossover for both high and low).

Connect the supplied cable (high) to the front speakers outputs on the receiver.

The crossover settings on the sub (only work with high input in position 2) are as you are doing, fine tune them with a bass rich CD (there are two level controls, one for high, another for low).

Set front speakers large, all others small, bass out: sub only, the fronts set to large get everything anyway, the speakers you set to small will only get over 90 hz, the rest, plus .1 (LFE channel) will go to the sub thru low.

    Enjoy

Are you saying that if you have a REL sub connected with both methods of connection ( high and low ) then you should just have the bass settings on your amp as SUB ONLY ?

Since I have put my HC hear to fuller use ( more than just movies ) I have reverted back to using both connections but still have my A1D cnfigured to output bass to both.

    I have Q100 and B603 fronts

I have my Rel connected via both, all speakers set to small and use mode2 (or 4) on the sub BUT as my A1SE directs full range signals to the fronts in Pure Direct i´ve set the high level crossover to around 80hz and switched OFF the sub at the amp.

This means i get the purest signal but dont lose any bass.

My speakers are set to small as they are KEF THX and dont go down below 70hz.

    Works well for me!!:D

    cheers

Yes, you should set it to sub only, otherwise you get the output bellow the receiver´s crossover frequency to the front speakers twice (to them and to the sub thru LFE)...

REL have just published on their website the setup method used by their US distributor. This seems much more comprehendable than their manuals (why have they been removed from the site?)
