    Hi,

I am in the process of building up my first home cinema setup. I'm looking at spending around £1400 for the whole kit, but that really is well on my limit.

The problem is with what AMP to get. I want it to be as future proof as possible for the money and I am not bothered about THX compatibility, the thing I can't decide is between 6.1 or 7.1? I know this increases the price but is it worth paying for now?

I am currently looking at the following:

    YAMAHA RXV740RDS
    SONY STRDB2000
    SONY STRDB790
    PIONEER VSXD912
    DENON AVR1804

At the moment it seems to be between the Yamaha and the Pioneer, though the MARANTZ SR5400OSE has been mentioned to me as well? What would everyone recommend out of these?

I know this doens't go in the part of the forum - but speaker wise I'm looking at the bookshelf B&W DM602 S3 for fronts, the 601 for rear and maybe the 600 for the 6/7 channel? Would people recommend doing this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tim
