I have just bought a Panasonic DMRE85 DVD/HDD recorder together with a new Panasonic PD40 digital television. Recording on to the harddrive from Analogue gives a fine picture. However, recording any of the digital channels gives a poor grainy image. Am I doing something wrong?

    Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes. And we need more info to know precisely what :)

    - Is your TV an IDTV or are you using a Freeview box?
    - Can you be more specific - "grainy"?
    - What are your settings in Setup/Connection?
    - Are you using decent Scart cables and are they fully RGB wired?

It seems that when I record digital in extended mode, the picture is not very good, but best quality HDD recording seems to be ok.

    Thanks anyway
