Help needed re Cambridge Audio kit & HDMI

Hope someone can help, I have a PS3 and Tosh EP30 for Bluray and HDDVD respectively and am looking for an AV reciever to take advantage of HD sound.

I've been looking at the Cambridge Audio 340R and 540R and a few threads on here suggest that these are compatible with my kit as they accept LPCM over HDMI. (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7258236)

However, looking at the manual for both recievers it states that they CANNOT recieve sound over HDMI and must be connected via Optical/Coax!

Can anyone advise which is correct?

I think I'd trust the manual.
Indeed, DavePuma says that the 340 doesn't do audio over HDMI, in the thread you link to.
