My Mum wants a new digital camera, she has a Richo Caplio R3, but wants a digital camera which is easier to use and has the old school viewfinder, is there anyone able to help me find one, as am having trouble trying to find one with a viewfinder.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If she want the old style viewfinder, you would be looking at a DLSR, in your buget you would be looking at s/h.

In the Nikon range, you should be able to pick a D40 D50 or D60 with an 18-55mm lens.

Also some Canon & Sony model, not sure of the model number.

Or maybe something in the mirrorless, with an EVF viewfinder build in,Samsung maybe NX-5 NX-10.

Just a couple of more things, what size & weight would she be willing to carry around ?

:)

She would be looking for as small as possible.

Her current Caplio R3 is very small.

Less bulky the better.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Olympus pen with clip on viewfinder, panasonic g/f series, fuji x10, fuji x100, Nikon v1. Some are over budget some aren't.

If she really need viewfinder, have a look at the Samsung range NX,their are also bridge cameras, with build in EVF,have at the Fuji range and Panasonic :)

A Canon G12 should fit the bill nicely.

Sounds like the Fujifilm X10 nicely fit the bill...

...unfortunately small compacts with viewfinders are non-existent these days....

Nice cheap, and includes viewfinder

...interestingly (?) the Caplio doesn't actually seem to have a viewfinder.....
