    Hi there
Could someone please help me choose a TV?
At the momment I will be using the TV with Sky (not HD), will be watching movies (DivX streamed from my Xbox360) and using it for gaming on the Xbox 360.
In the future I plan on purchasing a HD DVD player and possibly investing in Sky HD.
After much research I have narrowed in down to the following but really can't make my mind up!

    Sharp LC37X20E
    Sony KDL-40T3500
    Samsung LE40M87BDX
    LG 37LF75
    Toshiba 37X3030
    Panasonic-TX-37lzd70

My budget is approximately £800 and I want a screen size of 37" to 40"
Thanks for any help in advance!

Of the list both the Samsung and the Sony have the same superior LCD panel.

However each manufacturer has made different decisions how to use the panel.

I did not go with the Samsung because of:
    1. Smaller viewing angle than the Sony
    2. Reflective screen would cause viewing problems in my living room.
    3. I found the colours of the Samsung, especially the greens and skin tones to be slightly off and not to my taste.

If 24p is not going to be an issue and picture quality is the most important consideration I would personally recommend the Sony 40T3500. It is the direct sucessor of the 40W2000 but does not suffer from clouding.

If 24p is going to be important for you then take the Samsung.

I have the 40T3500 and the results are superb. I view SD satellite and 1080p over HDMI from my Ubuntu/nVidia medai center.

Thanks for your help - I am definately swaying towards the Sony.
Only problem is I'm having trouble finding one - all the websites I look at seem to be awaiting stock.
It's also awkward for me as I'm based in the Isle of Man and many stockists won't deliver here.

The sony 40w3000 is the direct successor to the w2000. the t series will be the next one on from the s series, p series, u series or d series. the w series are much higher up than this tv hence the price difference. :smashin:

I'm put off by Plasma's due to the image burn problems, the higher energy consumption, the heavier weight of them and the heat they give off... also in terms of my plans for the future (HD DVD, Sky HD etc) I'm assuming LCD would be a better option.
Please correct me if any of my info above is a misconception?
