Any ideas whats the best make/model to go for in a 42" in High-Def.

I have always had Philips but some have said either go with Panasonic or Sony.

Now i am confused. What one has the better screen image?

Pioneer 435XDE is a 43" "High Definition Ready" plasma.

By "High Definition Ready", I mean...
Has HDMI input which supports HDCP
    and screen resolution of 1024x768

I dont think there are any other plasmas with that spec.

You need to start demoing mate, the right one is the one you like best, it's a helluva lot of cash to part with on the say so of some geezers you've never met, and we are all B*****ds here! The Pio is a front runner, there are other ways of doing this, you will need a specialist retailer.

The new Panasonic Viera HD500 should definitely be on your list. Out in May (usually means June), but can be pre-ordered already at av-sales and others. SKY HD ready, VGA port, G8 screen (supposed to be a bit brighter and more gray levels), it's got the potential to wipe the Pioneer's nose in the poo...

Pioneer or wait till May June. Hitachi are due to release HDMI 7200 series end of April however this is an ALis panel which is a love or hate panel type on these forums. Panasonic 500 series is shaping up to be the must have panel but until any of us unbiased folk set eyes on it who knows. JVC will have one soon as well with HDMI.

As MAW says its a lot of dosh so a bit of patience  in the coming months
in order that you can view the various screens in GOOD conditions would seem to be the way to go for now.
