    I need some help.

I've got a REL Strata2 and it stays turned off.

Basically my main speakers go down to about 30Hz (in-room measured) tight and powerful all the way.

The Strata2 sounds too flabby in comparison and does not produce that much extension so it's off !

What sub up in the £1000 budget will give me what I crave. Deep powerful and (most importantly) tight bass below 30Hz.

    Thinking of Q400E, M&K (various models) maybe a Storm3.

Any ideas ? Help most appreciated.

    Gary

    Hallo
I got myself a REL Q400 a couple of weeks ago and are wery happy with it so far. I have B&W 604 s2 main speakers, play flat to about 35 hz. The REL is set to play from 35 hz and down when i listen to music, using both high and low level connections. When i looc at movies i have my main speakers set to large with the same set up.
Hope this was of some help to you.

    Hi Magking

Sounds good. What's the lowest crossover point the Q400 offers ?

This is part of the problem I have with my Strata2. The lowest crossover point means it overlaps the main speakers stopping me from running L&R on Large setting. Even using the processor and the L&R on small doesn't solve the problem completely as the bass is still too soft for my taste...

I am a Rel storm owner but I would point you towards the new Linn sub at £1k. I am not a Linn fan normally but this I thought was excellent.

I don't own one but is certainly the best sub £1k sub I've heard to date.

The Paradigm Sevro-15 is worth an audition if you can find one.
    It plays loud and low.

    Cheers.

Gary, just a thought, but what about not getting a sub but instead going for a pair of PMC FB1s to replace your main speakers - you'd then get bass down to 22Hz (probably lower "in room") and wouldn't need to worry about balancing a sub with the main speakers.

Alternatively, you could get yourself along to Audio Excellence who have a second hand (awesome) M&K MX200 at £999 (£1800 retail).

    Hi Matt

Would love 3 pairs of PMC speakers !!! No need for a sub then ;)

Unfortunately I think I'd find myself single again.

    The M&K sub's a barg though.

    Thanks for the reply
    Gary
