Help need connecting KDL-40V4000

Hi. I'm having difficulty connecting my Sony KDL-40V4000 to my PC. Got hold of a VGA cable to do the job, but the TV wont except any resolution I input. If I turn it right down to 800x600, it doesn’t say 'unsupported resolution' but a faint black box appears, not quite covering the screen.
What’s up fokes? I'm totally stumped anyway. Would really appreciate some help.

o the graphics card im using is a Geforce 7600GT, is that makes any difference.

Im having problems with my KDL32L4000 and pc. It displays the picture, but is a bit blurry and crap. Someone mentioned it might be to do with pixel mapping and I should try a hdmi cable, but I would need a new graphics card for that

Monomonkey - Please check the manual as to what resolutions and refresh rate combinations are supported by your set through the VGA connection. The Sony's are quite fussy when it comes to resolutions and reresh rates, with only a few supported.

Please then post what settings are supported and what the results of trying them are.

Other than that if your graphics card supports component-video via an optional dongle then that may be your next best bet as probably more resolutions supported by that method to your TV.
