I remember a TV movie back in the 70's a bit like that with Kim Darby called Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

God that scared the life out of me when I first saw it (i was only about 8 at the time!).
Saw it again several years and obviously it was quite laughable in parts but still creepy.

I'm sure it influenced Joe Dante's Gremlins years later.

One of the better 70s horror TV movies I've seen.

What was that other one about a premature burial, on a beach I think?

Are you thinking of Blood Beach where victims are sucked under the sands?

No it was early/mid 70s when US TV movies ruled the airwaves!

More of a thriller than a horror. I vaguely remember somebody being deliberatley buried alive, possible a teenager, for what reason I don't know.
Pretty sure it took place on a beach although in a make shift coffin of some kind.

    Sorry about this pjclark1

Garret, found this other creepy 70s TV Movie one on my trawls...

The Screaming Woman (1972) based on a Ray Bradbury story.

Not the one I was originally looking for but another 'buried alive' film and probably more well known and anotehr one that spooked me at the time.
I remember everyone talking about it at school the next day.
    Never seen it since.

Shame we're unlikey to see these TV films broadcast here again(?)

Kevo and Garrett have you ever thought about going on mastermind -

"you have two minutes on your specialist subject - crap 70's TV movies...................................Angela Lansbury once starred in a movie about a killer dog that was possessed by the spirit of her dead lesbian aunt, that became trapped down a disused well after a failed attempt by some aliens to abduct it- what was it called...."

Hats off to you guys :smashin:

You never cease to amaze me.

TV Movies...I luv 'em, especially from the 70s and 80s. They're just so cheap and simple!
It's where you'll find all those failed Hollywood actors.
And you can't beat those fade to blacks every 15 mins :)

Nowadays they all tend to be based on 'true crime stories' and have lost their edge.
