Whilst watching some TV today via my Pio 436XDE the Plasma decided to shut down on its own..

The panel and media box went into standby with both showing a flashing red led.

Used the remote to switch the units back on again....the media box went a solid blue..panel goes to blue led then immediately goes to a flashing red led...

No picture or sound Absolutely nothing...nadda...diddly squat...

So I disconnected all leads including power to TV and Media box for 30 mins.....then tried the above again..

No picture or sound Absolutely nothing...nadda...diddly squat...

Now I'm thinking the worse ..has my 11 month old Pio just died before Xmas.....

Any ideas, comments, thoughts as to what "may" be the problem....?

Yes it has died, PSU failure probably. It's well worth checking the security of the media box umbilical cable at both ends, symptons can be similar.

That's what I had thought...other threads have referred to the PSU problems...but will just check the umbilical cable..

But it looks like a call to Pioneer tomorrow... ...
It looks like it could be a long Xmas on a 14"...

Confirmation from Pioneer today that an Engineer will be required to fix my Pio...:( ....but not until Jan 5 2007.....

It would seem that my X or Y drive has failed...
Very disappointing given its an expensive bit of kit but glad its inside the warranty period...

I hope mine fails after 11 months rather than 12 (guarantee-wise)

Or was that other post right? That Pioneer have to provide me with a 24 month guarantee under recent EU Legislation (even though my piece of paper says 12 months)?

I'll try to find it - it was only 2 days ago in this forum. Made my eyes open up too.

    Reaperman,

I now have this problem. Did they fix it OK?

Can you please let me know what the outcome was and if your TV is fine now?

I will be calling D&G tomorrow as is under an extended warranty with them.

    Cheers

    Paul
