Hi

My old mum has just got her first lcdtv (sony) and would like me to get her a sony dvd recorder to replace her vhs.

I was looking at sony rdr-hxd995 as brother in law has got one and impressed but my mum wont need all the fancier features.

Is there a cheaper model with:

less hard drive
excellent picture
easy to record from guide
feature where if programme over runs it will continue recording

Thats it, doesnt need anything else

Cheers
Chris

Unless she really needs DVD recording which I doubt she would be better off with a PVR from the likes of Humax etc.

I second Andy's points.

PVR 's are generally much easier to use than DVDR's, which should only be considered if one wishes to permanently archive.

Additionally, I think any of that Sony range including the '995 will be extremely difficult to get now.
